RunedForge is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use runedforge.com and how we use it.
We are the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What Data We Collect
When you browse our website:
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type and device information, recorded in standard server logs for security
- Pages visited and referring URL
When you place an order:
- Your name, email address, phone number, and billing and delivery addresses
- What you ordered, what you paid, and the delivery and tracking details
- Payment card details are entered into Stripe’s secure form and go directly to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
When you contact us:
- Your name, email address and anything you include in your message
How We Use Your Data
- To process and deliver your order — taking payment, passing your delivery details to our fulfilment partner, sending order and tracking emails, and handling returns and refunds
- To keep records — order and payment records we must keep for tax and accounting
- To prevent fraud — Stripe screens payments for fraud
- To run and secure the website — preventing abuse and diagnosing faults
- To communicate with you — replying to enquiries
- To improve the website — understanding which pages and tools are useful
Legal Basis for Processing
- Contract — processing your order and delivering it
- Legal obligation — keeping tax and accounting records
- Legitimate interest — fraud prevention, website security, answering enquiries, improving our services
- Consent — any non-essential cookies (you can withdraw consent at any time)
Amazon Affiliate Links
Some links to Amazon in our articles and tools contain our Associates tracking tag. When you click one, Amazon may set cookies on your device so it can credit us with a commission if you buy. Those cookies are set and controlled by Amazon, not by us, and we do not receive any personal data about you from Amazon — only aggregated sales reports.
Who We Share Your Data With
- Stripe — processes card payments and screens them for fraud (Stripe’s privacy policy)
- Amazon — our stock is held in Amazon’s UK fulfilment network, so we pass your name, delivery address and phone number to Amazon to pick, pack and deliver your order, and Amazon passes them to the delivery carrier
- Zoho — our email provider, which handles order emails and your messages to us
- Hostinger — our hosting provider
- Google Fonts — web fonts are loaded from Google, which receives your IP address when fonts are requested
- Amazon affiliate links — only when you choose to follow one, as described above
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with anyone else without your consent unless required by law.
Cookies
RunedForge sets no tracking or advertising cookies. We use essential cookies to keep your basket working and to complete checkout. Stripe sets cookies on the checkout page to prevent fraud. WordPress may set a functional cookie if you log in. Amazon sets its own cookies once you arrive on Amazon.co.uk.
You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings.
Data Retention
- Orders and payment records — kept for 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required by HMRC
- Server logs — kept for up to 30 days
- Enquiries — kept for 2 years after resolution
